Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto for Growth

Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manifesto for Growth

One more thing. The link included in this post is to designer Bruce Mau's "Incomplete Manifesto for Growth". You may have seen it. Its a list he's compiled over the years that I find to be very motivating and inspirational. I hope you find it helpful as we move forward with our own designs.

Enjoy!

Also, here's a link to Bruce Mau's website, in case you are curious. Website

  1. I've read Mau's manifesto before, but I thought two of the entries were particularly relevant to our library issues. He mentions that growth isn't always good, which I feel is how many of us think about technology and electronic media. I also thought that the idea of the process being more important than the end result is how many people view research. In particular, the act of finding credible sources and paging through periodicals and books to find reliable information has been a part of scholarly research for centuries. Technology and electronic sources often expedite this, which basically undermines the idea of process. I think my challenge at this point is going to be to find new appreciations for electronic media and information- more than simply as a time-saver!
